ABOUT HIBERNIAN FINANCIAL

Learn about our expertise and experience

Welcome to Hibernain Financial Planning, LLC. I’m Roger Healy and I’m pleased you are here.

Hibernian Financial Planning, LLC

was founded by me, Roger Healy, to meet the needs of the many Expats living here in the US who are tired of conflicted financial advisers with hundreds of clients who can’t take the time to understand their unique situation. In full compliance with the local law in their country of residence, Hibernian Financial serves US citizens and taxpayers living outside of the US.

Many Expats have rich complex lives and need someone who understands that complexity and who can help them figure out how to best navigate a complex and foreign financial system. Hibernian Financial is that firm.

I have over 25 years of serving individuals, couples and families from all over the world and helping US citizens manage their complex global affairs.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I’m always happy to meet new people and learn about their situation. We can meet in person or via Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is Hibernain Financial's typical client? (Do I have to be an Expat to be a cleint)
While Hibernian Financial works with a variety of clients we specialize in helping Expats both here in the US and US citizens around the world.

Hibernian Financial clients are motivated to achieve their financial goals but don’t have the time or, in some cases, the expertise to manage everything alone.

Clients are international in both their outlook and their experiences and look globally for opportunities to both invest and give back.

How does Hibernian Financial get paid?
Hibernian Financial gets paid by you and only by you. Unlike a broker, we do not receive any commissions, retrocessions, referral fees, or other revenues from providers whose products we use or whose services we recommend. For complete details please see our brochure (known as a Form ADV Part 2) for which you will find a link at the bottom of each page on our website.
When can I contact Hibernian Financial?

Hibernian Financial is built to work around your schedule. We are available by appointment.  Clients live and travel around the world so having set office hours makes little sense. We are here when you need us. We are also happy to meet and collaborate online so that you don’t have to spend your time traveling to and from meetings.

How much money do I need to have to work with Hibernian Financial? (Is there an account minimum?)
Hibernian Financial doesn’t have account minimums. We do not require that we manage your assets. If you have $0 invested that’s fine, we want to help you. If you choose, Hibernian can help you manage your investments. We find that many people have only their 401(k) or similar plan. We cannot take control of such assets and manage them for you but we can still help you manage those assets.
Who will hold my investments?
At Hibernian Financial, we believe that you should have a custodian independent of your financial advisor and independent of your asset managers. We partner with Interactive Brokers, TD Ameritrade Institutional, and Betterment to give you a wide range of choices of independent custodians.

We do not hold or take custody of client assets. You will receive statements of your holdings directly from your custodian. This allows you to independently verify the value of your holdings. Hibernian Financial Planning, LLC is not involved in pricing the assets you hold.

How will we work together?
Check out the homepage to see how our process begins. Once we have been working together for a while we will settle into a regular cadence of meeting and updates. I will schedule meetings with you to address specific issues such as taxes and I am available to you for unlimited discussions about issues which invariably arise.

STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialize in family inheritance and succession planning. We work to improve public understanding of the issues families face in this area and promote education and high professional standards among our members. As specialists in inheritance and succession planning, STEP members may draft wills and trusts, administer estates, act as trustees and advise families on how best to structure their finances to ensure compliance and preserve their assets for future generations.  ‘TEP’ stands for Trust and Estate Practitioner and is the designation given to full members of STEP. To become a TEP, practitioners must have a combination of specialist qualifications and experience, including significant involvement at a specialist level with inheritance and succession planning. TEPs are recognized experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience. By joining STEP and maintaining their membership they have also shown significant commitment to their continued professional development in this specialist area.

We are members of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA),
and the Fee-Only Network.

The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country’s leading professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors—highly trained professionals who are committed to working in the best interests of those they serve. Our rich history began in 1983 when a group of advisors simply wanted to serve their clients without muddling the relationship with commissions. Since then we have developed high standards in the field and each advisor must sign and renew a Fiduciary Oathyearly and subscribe to our Code of Ethics.  It’s all a part of the mission of NAPFA. The association provides support and education for over 3000 practitioners all over the country and is governed by the NAPFA Board of Directors and supported by our four Region Boards.

NAPFA members live by three important values:

  • To be the beacon for independent, objective financial advice for individuals and families.
  • To be the champion of financial services delivered in the public interest.
  • To be the standard bearer for the emerging profession of financial planning.

Roger Healy is a member of NAPFA.

The XY Planning Network is the leading organization of fee-only financial advisors who are focused on working with Generation X and Generation Y clients. Their mission is to connect consumers with best-in-class financial advisors who specialize in working with clients just like you.
